Often people think of runners as individuals who get up before the rest of us to run a few miles. However, these runners may not be innate “morning people” – rather, they have found a time of day that works best for them to go for a run. This was the case for 6AM Run founder and Delaware native, Hami Mahani.
As Hami was approaching 40 years old, he wanted to start running regularly for his physical and mental health. When he told his wife that he wanted to run an hour every day, they discussed how this would fit into their lives while working full-time and raising two children. For Hami and his family, the best time to run was first thing in the morning, as this allowed him to feel physically and mentally prepared without cutting into family time. Hami recalled feeling more focused at work after accomplishing a morning run and thought that running was a significant contributor to his professional advancement. The focus and joy from incorporating a morning run into his routine was a driving reason for founding 6AM Run. Hami wanted to help other runners and athletes to live happy, healthy, balanced lives. After many months of discussing the idea of starting a company, Hami and his wife took the plunge, and on June 16th, 2018, their business was born.
6AM Run provides runners and other endurance athletes with nutrition formulas to boost workout performance and aid recovery. The focus of their formulas is to provide all the nutrients your body needs as an athlete. Their flagship product and best-seller is the Marathon formula. It can be used as a pre- or post-workout and helps keep you energized, focused, and hydrated. The Marathon formula is good for workouts longer than 60 minutes, while the Sprint formula is a better fit for shorter ones. Sprint can even be beneficial to lifters. The component that sets Marathon and Sprint aside from other pre-workout supplements is that they don’t give you the jitters or produce concerning cardiovascular effects. The formulas are made with green tea extracts to provide energy without greatly increasing your heart rate and making you tingly or itchy.
While 6AM Run’s primary goal is to deliver high-quality products, they also strive to provide a supportive community and positively contribute to the local community. Shortly after founding 6AM Run, the company created a Facebook Group for their community to share words of advice, encouragement, funny stories, and wisdom to fellow runners. Today the group has a whopping 15,000 members supporting and encouraging each other’s running!
Since half of the company’s lifespan has overlapped with the COVID-19 pandemic, their role in the local community has been limited, but the virtual community they’ve created is thriving. Before the pandemic, they tried working with organizations to put on local races. However, with restrictions and the community’s safety in mind, the races were canceled or modified to be virtual events. The company hopes they will be able to have a more active presence in the tristate area in the future.

The watermelon flavor is nostalgic of Jolly Rancher candies, lending to a pretty sweet taste. It is enjoyable, but you could dilute it for a less sweet, watermelon-flavored drink.
