Originating from tropical Asia, ginger has been used for medicinal purposes for over 2,000 years! Not only does this natural remedy help with a variety of ailments, but it can also be consumed in a variety of ways too! (To be clear, ginger ale soda and ginger snap cookies do not count). Ginger can be a great, healthier alternative remedy for many common ailments.

Benefits of ginger can include:

  • Improved circulation
  • Assistance in aiding digestion and relieving nausea
  • Reduced pain and inflammation
  • Decreased congestion
  • Body Detoxification
  • Alleviation of cramps
  • Soothing of irritated skin

How to consume:

Fresh Ginger Root

Fresh ginger root can be consumed in many different ways. Many people like to add it to hot tea to help with colds, flu, and sore throats. Fresh ginger root can also be added to soups and stir-fries for an extra kick of flavor.

Ginger Oil

Ginger oil is a great way to get the most benefits of ginger since it is the most potent form of ginger. It contains the highest levels of gingerol. To use ginger oil, simply rub the oil over the part of the body that is irritating you. For example, if you have nausea, rub a few drops over the stomach and wait for the magic to take place!


For those who don’t love the taste of ginger but want all of the benefits, ginger capsules are a great option. The powdered form of ginger is found inside the capsule, so your body gets all the benefits and your tastebuds are unbothered!


Ginger powder can be used for culinary purposes, like marinades, sauces, and stews. You can also make a nice, warm cup of ginger tea using ginger powder.
